2024

Sunday 24th March 2024 Hot cross bun and coffee morning

Time: 10.30am

They will be serving Hot Cross Buns with tea/coffee, and there will also be an opportunity to win an Easter 'prize'!

To assist with catering could you please let Judy the club secretary know if you will be there?

2023

Sunday the 17th December

There will be a members get together to enjoy some mulled wine and  home-made mince pies, to be held at the club house on Sunday the 17th December at 10.30am . In addition there will also be a raffle held to " guess the weight of a cake".

Friday 29th September

Club members stayed the week at Potters, finishing with our top team (picture above) winning the final this morning. 

Saturday 23rd September. 

The final drive of the season went well. Teams of three were set up, each playing 3 round-robin games during the afternoon, stopping for a cream tea part way through and a hot meal of Pie or Sausage & mash, was served at the start of the evening.   We were entertained by Les Wilson, "Versatile Vocalist, Music for all occasions " and politely sat singing along with him up until the presentation of the prizes and raffle, and then went wild when he switched to disco.  

Well done to Norman, Sue and Gary. ( Vice captain's) and everyone who helped them create a successful and enjoyable day.   

Sunday 17th September - BB&DBA Finals at HSBC Bowling Club

We won the Mixed Fours competition and were the runners up in the Triples League

Friday 15th September - Fun Quiz

Phil and Sally ran their popular quiz again this year. 

Thursday 7th - 10th September - Deaf Bowls World Cup Edinburgh

Paul was part of the teams that won a Bronze medal in the men's fours and a Silver medal in the Triples.

Saturday 26th August Bethlem Men's Triples Competition

24 teams entered this competition playing on a round robin basis playing 5 matches of 6 ends.
John O, Paul & Alan won the competition for the second year running winning all games.
Managing a hot shot and also winning £30 each.

Friday 18th August - Mixed Triples Competition

The winners were Pauline A, Kay M and Vince B, and the runners up Pat P, Elisabeth L and Dave E.

Sunday 6th August - Palmart Trophy

This years match was won by the men with a score of 116 to 74.

Friday 4th August - Games Night

The Games night was well attended and everyone enjoyed the games of Hoy Bingo & Chase the Ace and the Fish & Chips dinner.  Thanks go to Sue, Pat & Mary for organising and running the evening, to Terry  & Gary for getting the food and to Ian & Janet who did their usual excellent job of looking after the bar.    

20 June Mayor's Team Match

Very entertaining bowls match between Mayor's Team and Orpington Bowls Club. In beautiful sunshine the teams played out a very close match. It was nip and tuck till the very end when Orpington took the honours by a very tight margin: 63 to 61. Congratulations to Norman and his team, and many thanks to both teams for their donations to the Mayor's charity. And thanks to the club for their hospitality.

19 November Dinner Dance & Presentation evening

This years dinner dance at the Westerham Golf Club went very well and a good time was had by all.
There is a set of pictures on the Internal Competitions page showing the presentation of the trophies.

September 2022

25 September North Kent Fours

Orpington won the North Kent Four's final winning 21 - 15.
All players bowled very well in a good match
Team was Andrea, Paul, Eunice and Peter T.

ORPET

Petts Wood won both the Men's & Ladies ORPET trophies this year. 

BBDBA Finals

Orpington have won the BBDBA triples league final winning by one shot on the last end in a very good match
Both teams played very well and all bowlers played well..

Teams were..              Paul, Andrea & Nigel    and  John, Alan & Phil.

Saturday 3rd  Bexley Competitions

Congratulations to Andrea and Paul on winning the mixed pairs competition for the second year running,
John O came runner up in the  singles competition,

August 2022

Hot Shots

Congratulations to the men’s NW Kent first team on getting 6 points in this weeks match against New Beckenham.  During the game Peter T, Rob and Paul Gal achieved a Hot Shot, scoring the full 9 points in one end

Bethlem Men's Triples Competition

John Ouzman, Paul Gal lagher and Alan Niblock won the Bethlem Men's Triples Competition yesterday.
Twenty Four teams entered and played round robin matches all day.
Orpington were the only team to win all Five games.

Knockholt Ladies Triples Open Tournament

Congratulations to Judy, Pat and Sheila on winning the Knockholt Ladies Triples Open Tournament, beating Bromley Town 13-0 in the final, and to Mo, Jill and Sue on coming third in the tournament.

Palmart Cup

The men won the Palmart Cup match 107 - 69.

June 2022

LX League Ron Ault Cup

We are through to the 2nd round of this competition and will next play either Blackheath & Greenwich or Duke of Kent Court by 22nd July.

21 June The Mayor's Team

On a hot sunny afternoon, the Mayor's bowls team took on Orpington Bowling Club yesterday at Goddington Lane. The Deputy Mayor Cllr Christine Harris sent up the first woods to start the match off. The mayor's team built up a strong lead until the break, after which things started to turn around with Orpington fighting back. This set up a very close finish to the last few ends. The mayor's team managed to hang on to emerge the eventual winners and to regain the trophy from last year's winners

Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebration 2 June 2022

We had a roll-up and party to celebrate the Jubilee. A rose bush was planted to commemorate the event. More than 50 members attended and a good time was had by all.

27 May

We reached the divisional final for the Kent over 55 4s. 
Players were Paul Gal lagher, John Ouzman, Roger Smith & Peter Townsend.
 

April 2022 

Deaf Bowls National Triples 2022
Paul Gal lagher was in the triple that won the competition which had 10 teams taking part.
They won all their matches, in 6 round robin games of 90 minutes over Easter Saturday and Sunday.

Ladies Coffee Morning
On Wednesday 20th April the OBC ladies had their coffee morning.  This was a good opportunity to get together after the winter and catch up.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the coffee and cake and chat. I as ladies captain was able to welcome the new members and explain the variety of bowling opportunities available.
