We played the annual match against the Mayor of Bromley's team.  Here is a match write up from the Mayor's facebook page, there are photos above.

Yesterday, the Mayor and Mayoress thoroughly enjoyed watching a keenly contested match between Orpington Bowls Club and the Mayor's Team. The Mayor's Team held a slight lead when play stopped for tea and cakes, but Orpington then fought back to regain the Mayor's Trophy by 90 to 78. The Mayor would like to thank Orpington for their hospitality and both teams for their generous contributions to the Mayor's Charities

Saturday 8th & Sunday 23rd May

The two open days were well attended in spite of the first day having heavy rain, and they resulted in a good number of people applying to join the club.

Thursday 6th May

The clubhouse was used as a Polling Station for the local elections, we took the opportunity to give out leaflets about our open days.

2017

10 October         North West Kent Leagues

Both the Ladies & Mens NWK teams were awarded runner-up trophies in 2nd division of the NWK league. The presentations were made at the NWK AGM held at BIBC on Tuesday 10th October.  Pat Pillow received the Ladies trophy and John Ouzman on behalf of the Men.

Well done all who played in the NWK  during the 2017 season.

24 Sept               The Brian Dickensen Memorial Trophy – Langley

The event on Sunday was the annual Langley invitation. About 30 teams entered. It’s a brilliant day where each team plays 5 games of 6 ends and points are allocated for number of ends won plus overall score. Orpington had another team comprising the Wheatley’s and Whitehead’s. Both teams were joint runners up but my team was awarded the prize due to having 1 shot more. We got £50.  I played in this event with John Ouzman in 2014 and won the trophy and £100. Considering the strength and variety of teams on the day I think we did the Club proud.  The day finished with a really nice meal followed by the presentations. Of course, like any other event, the weather plays an important part and Sunday was glorious.                    Brian Flagg

March         Congratulations to the juniors on winning the Invicta Cup

6 February           Petanque/Boules

Work commenced on the new venture to have a Petanque/Boules facility at the club. A keen group of members turned up on Monday morning 6th February to make a start on the Court. There was of course considerable discussion and free advice on what should be done. Nevertheless, Harry Lewis ably supported by everyone; steered the work party to a very satisfactory start.
